Canada Ex-Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird: Still The Israeli Agent

For all Israel’s long-established opposition to a nuclear Iran and fear mongering against same, Israel is one of the four UN member states that is not a signatory to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Iran is. As such, Israel is not subject to international monitoring.
In constantly exploiting her Nazi victimization, Israel has succeeding in the having her powerful allies excuse or turn a blind eye to her excesses, wrongs, nuclear program and nuclear arsenal, as well as afraid of confronting Israel in any way shape or form. Plus the Israel Lobby and moneyed Jews have ensured they have so much political influence, Israel’s interest takes center stage and no western government dare tie the billions in aid to Israeli to settlement issues as often done to others; tie their aid to issues/their interests.
Israel is the only superpower in the Middle East. In 2008, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said that Israel holds at least 150 nuclear weapons – knowledge that had to be gleaned during Carter’s one term (1977-1981) in office. Given the secrecy surrounding Israel’s nukes, who is to know the current size of Israel’s nuclear weaponry?
Not one of Israel’s staunch supporters would ever question why she isn’t a signatory to the Treaty or press her to do so – given the size of her arsenal. Much less discuss or query as to how or who enabled Israel to obtain the technology.
For all the mouthing of Israel being a friend, downplayed are its espionage units against allies.
AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee Policy) lobbyists’ Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman had their spying case dropped, dismissed. No doubt the Bush administration too scared – over their witness and/or subpoena list. Imagine called before the court the likes of Douglas Feith and Paul Wolfowitz!
Ben-Ami Kadish, 84, was charged in 2008 with spying for Israel between 1979 and 1985; giving classified documents about nuclear weapons, fighter jets and air defense missiles to an Israeli Consulate employee.
Fined $50,000, Judge William H. Pauley III, said prison would serve no purpose for a man so old and infirm.
Jonathan Pollard, the Jewish American naval intelligence officer arrested in November 1985 for spying for Israel is a national hero in Israel. Though presidents Clinton and Bush both refused to pardon Pollard for espionage, the campaign for Pollard’s freedom is supported by all of Israel and organized American Jewry.
On the other hand, Mordecai Vanunu was snatched; kidnapped in Rome and return to Israel in chains for reveling secrets of Israel nuclear weapon/program to the world in 1986 via the British Sunday Times newspaper.
Vanunu was sentenced to 18 years in an Israeli prison and spent eleven and a half in solitary confinement, and subsequently forbidden to travel abroad or deal substantively with foreign journalists.
Vilified and regarded as a traitor, upon his release, Vanunu was slapped with six months in jail for speaking.
For all the mouthing of Israel being a friend, downplayed is its usage of the passports of its allies to facilitate its spying operations as well as to execute acts of terrorism.
Israeli operatives/Mossad has a long history of abusing – using Canadian passports. In 2004, New Zealand caught and arrested two Mossad agents falsely trying to obtain New Zealand passports. In January 2010, Mossad agents using forged British passports murdered Mahmud al-Mabhuh in Dubai.
You would never hear anyone in the Israeli government say what a great friend it is to Canada or anyone else. Yet, Canada’s politicians/government will lie prostrate to demonstrate how great a friend Canada is to Israel.
Thus, former Canadian foreign affairs minister John Baird had no qualms about standing on an AIPAC podium yesterday to mouth the Israeli government perspective; express skepticism about America’s nuclear talks with Iran because only the bombing of Iran serves Israel.
Baird says he “worries about the consequences a nuclear Iran might have on the entire region,” and “The last thing we need is a new nuclear arms race in the Middle East.” For that endorsement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly declared Baird to be a champion of Israel.
Would John Baird be a champion of Canadian interests instead of a mouthpiece for Israel?
